Britecharts Library Issues

Below are issues known to exist inside of the open source project Britecharts which we use to display some charts and graphs. These issues are only able to be corrected by the Britecharts dev team and once fixed there will get fixed inside of our plugin. You can see current open and closed issues on their Github.

1. Legends showing whole numbers with decimal and zeros – In the Legends of a Britecharts library based chart your whole value numbers will appear with a decimal point and three zeros after it.

Currently this issue impacts: Donut Charts

Solution: In our plugin edit your Britecharts Donut chart and deselect the checkbox next to “Show Legend”. For now not displaying a legend is the only solution to avoid displaying the numerials like this.

2. Tooltip not moving all the way to the right – In a few charts there is an issue with the tooltip where it does not follow the mouse cursor smoothly to the right and instead the tooltip begins to move back to the left after a few data points eventually becoming difficult to see.

Currently this issue impacts: Line Charts, Stacked Area Charts

Solution: No current solution to this issue

3. X-axis labels crowding on mobile – On the stacked bar chart the x-axis labels will crowd each other on a mobile (smartphone) screen.

Currently this issue impacts: Stacked Bar Charts

Solution: No current solution to this issue

Hosting Issues / Conflicts

Shared Hosting (in general)

Most shared hosting providers will likely be a bad fit for your WP Business Intelligence installation due to at least one of two issues.

1. Most shared hosting providers will not allow write permissions to the /tmp/ folder which stores PHP sessions.

2. Most shared hosting providers will have a very low limit for concurrent connections and each chart/graph/table per page will be counted as one connection.

In both of these cases the plugin is likely to be automatically deactivated by WordPress for stability of your main website. To run WP Business Intelligence efficiently you should consider using a VPS, Dedicated, or Cloud hosting solution.

Ionos (1&1 hosting)

website: https://www.ionos.com/

  • Hosting Type: Shared
  • Package(s): Essential, Business, Expert
  • Version: Free
  • Live/Test: Live
  • Issue Description: Shared hosting at Ionos is known to block write permissions to the /tmp/ folder for PHP sessions and to have a low concurrent connections limit (18 at time of writing). Both of these issues can lead to your plugin being automatically deactivated.
  • Current Status: Permananet issue with web host – Solution recommended.
  • Recommended Action: Talk with Ionos about getting write permissions on the PHP /tmp/ folder and increasing the connection limit. They will most likely deny both of these requests and recommend that you move your website to their VPS system for dedicated resources.
